Joovy Qool Stroller Review

joovy_qool2

Joovy Qool is the first luxury stroller released by Joovy. It is a full-size stroller designed for everyday use like running errands, going to a mall, or grocery shopping.

The high-tech four-wheel suspension system helps to absorb all of the bumps making your stroller glide over rough areas.

The sealed bearing wheels are not all-terrain but will handle some mommy terrain like grass, grave, or mulch with no problem. It has outstanding maneuverability and can be pushed with one hand.

The stitched leather on the handlebar and the bumper bar add to the expensive feel. The roomy seat is reversible and has a super soft insert that can be removed and washed.

It can accommodate a child from 3 months and up to 55 lbs. If you want to use it from birth, you can get a car seat adapter and turn it into a travel system.

The Qool model also features an adjustable footrest, 5-point harness, telescoping handlebar, and flip-flop-friendly brake. The canopy is absolutely HUGE! It provides full coverage at any time of the day. The cool thing about it is that it weighs only 21.5 lbs!

OVERALL

I gave this stroller 5 out of 5 stars because this stroller is almost perfect. Almost… LOL. The only two things I didn’t like were the bulkiness and lack of storage. I also wish they would include a cup holder. Since this is a new stroller, I couldn’t find any good sales.

You can get it for around $549. It comes in 10 beautiful colors with two frame options. I absolutely LOVE the color choices. The Avocado color with a graphite gray frame is to die for! I would definitely recommend the Qool model for parents who want to buy only one stroller.

Features

CANOPY

I absolutely love the oversized canopy on Qool. It looks like a medium size canopy until you unzip it in the middle to expose one more panel. With this coverage, your child will be protected from the sun at any time of the day.

There is also a large peekaboo window with a noisy Velcro closure. I wish it was a magnetic one especially because this is a luxury stroller.

HANDLEBAR

It has an adjustable telescoping handlebar that goes all the way from 36″ to 41″ from the ground. Great for taller and shorter parents. Just like the bumper bar it’s covered with high-quality leather and stitched. Expensive!

The handlebar goes all the way from 36″ to 41″ from the ground which is great for taller and shorter parents.

SEAT

The seat is 13″ wide with a 20″ seat back and a measurement of 22″ from the bottom of the seat to the top of the canopy. It’s not the highest canopy, so if you have a very tall child it might be a problem. It can accommodate a child from three months and up to 55 lbs.

It has a one-hand lever recline with multiple recline positions. Now, it does NOT go all the way to a flat position, so it is not recommended to use until your child is three months old.

If you want to use it from birth, you will need to get a car seat adapter. I do like that once you bring the seat back up, it is very upright. The seat can be easily reversed so your child can face you or the world.

All you need to do is push two buttons on both sides of the seat, swing it around, and pop it back into the frame till you hear a click.

The seat is very soft with great padding that is almost like a memory foam. It is removable and washable. Great for when you have a spill or a diaper catastrophe. LOL.

We all have been there. I really like that the insert is a different color from the main seat, but matches the canopy. It has a sleek sporty look.

HARNESS

It has an adjustable padded 5-point harness. The buckle is hard to undo, so your toddler will not be able to escape. I really like that the harness is broken away, meaning that the shoulder straps are separate from the hip straps.

BUMPER BAR

INCLUDED! It has a removable swing-away bumper bar that is covered with LEATHER! This screams luxury.

LEGREST

Most luxury strollers these days have an adjustable legrest and the Qool model is not an exception. The adjustable leg rest has multiple positions to accommodate a younger child.

It is so much more comfortable for little baby to have his little legs up on the leg rest. It also helps to create a bed-like environment once you recline the back of the seat. There is also a footrest that is part of the frame for older children.

BASKET

The basket is a great size and is easy to access even with the seat fully reclined. Since the recline is not very deep, the seat doesn’t get in the way. You will definitely be able to fit a large diaper bag in it, but not more than that.

WHEELS

It rolls on four hard rubber wheels with 9.5″ wheels in the back and 7″ front wheels. The front wheels are swivel but can be locked straight if the terrain gets tough.

The Qool has an all-wheel suspension that uses a cantilever system which makes the stroller glide over any bumps, curbs, or rough patches that get in the way.

It’s like it has a built-in shock-absorbing system. It should handle mommy terrains like grass, mulch, or gravel with no problems.

BRAKE

The brake is located in the back between the rear wheels. It’s a flip-flop-friendly one-step pedal that locks both of the rear wheels in place. No more shoe scratches!

FOLD

You can fold it with the seat attached facing forward or backward. Of course, you will get the most compact fold with the seat removed. To fold it with the seat attached, first bring the bumper bar down and push the back of the seat forward.

Next, push two buttons on the side of the frame and bring the handlebar forward. You are done! There is an automatic lock that will hold your stroller in place. It doesn’t have the most compact fold, but you can remove the seat and the wheels to make it more compact.

TRAVEL SYSTEM OPTION

You can turn it into a travel system by getting a car seat adapter. The adapters use the car seat’s existing latching mechanism to simply “click” into place.  The adapters are compatible with the following infant car seats:

  • Britax B-Safe
  • BOB B-Safe
  • Chicco KeyFit 30
  • Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35/ Click Connect 40
  • Maxi-Cosi Mico/Mico AP/Prezi
  • Cybex Aton/Cybex Aton 2/Cybex Aton Q

Cons

– Recline. The recline has multiple positions but does not go all the way flat. It is nice to have a deep recline for when your child falls asleep in the stroller. By reclining the seat and lifting the legrest all the way, you can create a bed-like environment for your little one.

-No cup holder. Since this is a luxury expensive stroller, I would like to see a cup holder included.

-Lack of storage. The only storage on Qool is the basket. There is no cup holder and no additional small pockets for smaller items like keys, a phone, or a wallet.

-Bulky. This one will not fit in any trunk. If you have a small car, measure the trunk first. You can remove the seat and the wheels to make it more compact.

  1. Hi Katrin, I think I’m pretty set on getting this stroller with the Britax B-Safe car seat, based on your review (I’ve seen kind of mixed reviews elsewhere but I trust your judgement the most!). But I’m second-guessing about the Mamas & Papas Sola2. That one seems to have a lot of similarities and a more compact fold (and I guess the Maxi-Cosi car seat would be the most affordable one that could make it a travel system). Do you think there are any major advantages of one over the other? Thanks!!
