Peg Perego Pliko Mini Twin Stroller Review

The Pliko Mini Twin 2016 is the new double side-by-side umbrella stroller from Peg Perego presented at the ABC Kids Expo 2015.

For those of you who don’t know, Peg Perego is an Italian company that has been making strollers since 1949.

The Pliko Mini Twin model is the lightest twin stroller in the Peg Perego family. It weighs only 24 lbs and can accommodate twins or siblings close in age.

This is a compact model with adjustable handlebars that is designed for running errands, going to the park, and traveling.

The fold is very easy and can be done with just one hand. The carry handle on the side makes it easy to transport when folded.

Both roomy seats have deep one-hand reclines that go to almost a flat position suitable for a newborn. The seats can accommodate a child from birth and up to 45 lbs.

It does NOT have a travel system option. Individually adjustable leg rests provide babies with more stretching room.

The ball bearings on the front swivel wheels together with all-wheel suspension allow you to steel with ease. I found it easy to push with one hand, but I was testing it only on a flat surface completely empty.

Since this is a new model, I didn’t have a chance to fully test it yet, but I gathered all the info I could find for you. The Pliko Mini Twin looks very similar to the new UPPAbaby G-Link model that will be available early next year.

This model is available now in four beautiful colors and retails for around $399.  You can also get a single Peg Perego Pliko Mini for only $245.

Features

CANOPY

The canopy might not look that big, but it fold down in front of the child providing good sun protection. It has a large mesh peekaboo window in the back without a closure.

The mesh is covered with clear plastic protecting your child from the rain. Overall this is a great canopy for an umbrella model that are known for their small flimsy canopies.

SEAT

Both seats are very roomy with individual deep one-hand recline that goes to almost a flat position suitable for a newborn.

I like lever recline system much more than strap  system. Each seat can handle up to 40 lbs.

HARNESS

Each seat has an adjustable non-padded 5-point harness with a center release buckle.

HANDLEBARS

This is a very unusual feature for an umbrella stroller. Most of them have non-adjustable handle bars. The three handle bars go from 39″ up to 41″ from the ground.

The cool thing about Mini Twin is because it has a third handle bar in the middle, you can navigate it with just one hand. I haven’t tried pushing it with one hand when it’s fully loaded, but I could definitely do it when it was empty.

What I didn’t like about handle bars was that they are made out of hard plastic and there is no foam or other soft cover. I think it’s ok for a short distances, but might get uncomfortable over time if the stroller is fully loaded or going a long distance.

LEGREST

Each seat has individually adjusted legrest that has two positions.

BRAKES

There are three foot brakes with each located on top of the rear wheel. They are not flip-flop-friendly.

BASKET

Umbrella models are known their small useless baskets, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that Peg Perego has combined two baskets together to create a large one.

Of course because of the both crossbars in the back it’s hard to get things in and out, but I think you will be able to fit a medium size diaper bag in each basket.

WHEELS

It rolls on six 5.5″ EVA wheels with front swivel wheels that can be locked straight. Since I only tested it on a flat surface, I can’t say much about maneuverability on the rougher terrain.

I hope it’s better than on the single Pliko which didn’t get very high scores. It did ok for me on a flat surface completely empty.

FOLD

You can fold this baby with just one hand. All you need to do is pull on the lever on each handle bar and and pull on the strap in the middle till it folds.

There is an automatic lock and a standing fold. Unlike the single model it has a side handle that makes it easy to carry the stroller when it’s folded.
