Last year Cybex made a big splash by releasing 6 new models that are perfect for everyday use.
All of these models feature a one-hand compact fold, large basket, adjustable handlebar, bumper bar, all-wheel suspension, huge canopy, and bassinet option.
But the best thing about this collection is that you can choose the seat, the wheels, and the number of wheels you want. Cybex made sure there was a stroller for every lifestyle.
The Cybex Iris M-Air is a reversible-seat model very similar to the Balios M but has regular-size wheels instead of all-terrain.
Everything else is absolutely the same! Because of the regular-size wheels, the Iris M-Air has a lighter weight and a more compact fold.
It’s great for running errands, going to the store or a shopping mall. You can easily get it in and out of the car and because of the compact fold, it doesn’t take too much room in the trunk.
The light weight of only 21 lbs will be easy on your back. While it’s a lightweight model, it still has a reversible seat so you can see your baby any time.
It also features a deep one-hand lever recline suitable for a newborn, a huge basket, an adjustable leg rest, an adjustable handlebar, a flip-flop-friendly brake, and a 5-point harness.
You can also convert it into a travel system by replacing the seat with an infant car seat or a pram by replacing the seat with a bassinet. I think that Iris M-Air is a serious competition for lighter strollers with a reversible seat like Mamas&Papas Armadillo Flip XT, UPPAbaby Cruz 2015, Bugaboo Bee3, and Mamas&Papas Urbo2.
OVERALL
I gave Iris M-Air 5 out of 5 stars because this is a fabulous stroller with every feature you can imagine. I absolutely love the style and the quality. The maneuverability is outstanding! It can be easily pushed with one hand.
The combination of the black frame with white tire stripes and fun colors gives it a modern look and makes it stand out.
The only thing I would add (there is always something. LOL) is a cover for the mesh panel in the canopy. I also wish it worked with other popular car seats aside from Cybex.
Don’t get me wrong, Cybex car seats are THE BEST, but they are also very expensive. Not everybody can afford them. Anyways, Iris M-Air retails for $399 which I think is very reasonable for what you are getting, and it comes with a bumper bar.

Features
CANOPY
This canopy is great! It has three large panels including a mesh zipped-in one that goes down all the way to the bumper bar. Your child will get full coverage.
You can use the mesh panel instead of the peekaboo window to look at your child. The only thing I wish it had is the closure for the mesh to protect the child from the wind and the sun.
SEAT
The seat is reversible so your child can face you or the world. It is 12.5″ wide with a 20″ seat back and a measurement of 22″ from the back of the seat to the top of the canopy.
You will be happy to know that it has a very deep one-hand lever recline that goes to an almost flat position. You can use the seat from birth and up to up to 55 lbs.
Of course, if you want to put your newborn baby into the seat, you will need an infant insert for additional support.
HARNESS
It has an adjustable padded 5-point harness with a center release buckle. Because the waist straps and the shoulder straps are connected, it’s very easy to lock the buckle. The white logo in the middle of the buckle is a great touch.
HANDLEBAR
The telescoping handlebar goes from 37″ all the way up to 42″ from the ground. Shorter and taller parents will be comfortable.
BUMPER BAR
INCLUDED! This bumper bar is swing-away and can be easily removed.
LEGREST
The legrest is adjustable so your little baby will be able to stretch his legs.
BASKET
The basket is great! It’s large and very easy to access from the back or the front if the seat is reversed. You can fit a LOT of stuff in it like a huge diaper bag, groceries, and baby essentials.
Look at how loaded this basket is!
WHEELS
It rolls on four hard rubber wheels with 6″ in the front and 9.5″ wheels in the back. The front wheels are swivel but can be locked straight. These wheels are made out of high-quality rubber and have foam filling so they will never go flat.
While they are NOT all-terrain like on Balios M, they still can handle some mommy terrain like mulch and grass.
The all-wheel suspension together with large all-terrain wheels make the ride much smoother.
BRAKE
It’s always nice to see a flip-flop-friendly brake. No shoe scratches!
FOLD
The fold is a three-step fold, but you can do it all with one hand. The only part that was hard to do one-handed was to push it together enough to activate the automatic lock. I think it’s more two-hand fold than one-hand.
Anyways, it has a standing fold if you position the handlebar the right way. Since the stroller folds in half (one of my favorite folds), it becomes a very compact package. The folded dimensions are 14.5″L x 23″W x 33″H.
BASSINET OPTION
You can turn your stroller into a stylish pram by replacing the seat with a matching bassinet called Cybex Carry Cot M.
It features a comfortable, extra-wide mattress that ensures an ergonomically correct and comfortable lying position.
The integrated UVP50+ sun canopy protects from sun, wind, and rain. The carrycot weighs only 8 lbs and can accommodate a child from birth and up to 20 lbs. It works with the following models:
- Cybex Balios M
- Cybex Iris M-Air
- Cybex Agis M-Air 3 / 4
- Cybex Eternis M3 / M4
TRAVEL SYSTEM OPTION
You can also turn your stroller into a travel system by replacing the seat with an infant car seat. It works ONLY with Cybex car seats which I think have one of the best safety ratings. The compatible models include:
- Aton
- Aton 2
- Aton Q/Could Q
Cons
-No mesh window closure. There is a zipped-in mesh panel in the canopy that you can expose for larger coverage. This mesh can be also used as a peekaboo window. I wish there was an attached cover to protect the child from wind and the sun.
-Works only with Cybex car seats. While you can convert Iris M-Air into a travel system, it works only with Cybex infant car seats which I love, but they are not cheap. The most popular car seat Aton 2 retails right now for $320.

Hi Katrin,
I’m trying to decide on a stroller and I think I’ve narrowed it down to two…finally! I already have a Bugaboo Chameleon, but it’s too bulky for travel so I am looking for lightweight stroller that is as portable as an umbrella stroller but with more features. The things I NEED are a reversible seat because my boy loves to look at his mama, a compact fold with the seat attached, lightweight, and under $500. I’m stuck between the Cybex Iris M and Babyhome Vida Plus. I don’t need a travel system, I already have one for my Maxi Cosi infant seat. I guess I’d like to know what you think is better and more functional. I know the Iris is heavier but accommodates up to 55lbs but my 10 month old isn’t even 20lbs and has been a pint of peanuts since he was born so really, will we still need a stroller when he’s 55lbs?? What one do you think is best? Which one is easier to fold and unfold and is smaller when folded? Thanks so much for your reviews and all of your knowledge!
Hi Katrin,
Thanks for all of these reviews, thay have been hugely helpful. I think I have narrowed down my stroller search to two…finally! I would love your opinion and even suggestions on any strollers that may be better. I currently have a Bugaboo Chameleon that I use every day for long walks in our neighborhood, but I find it too bulky and complicated for everyday use out and about. I am looking for something lightweight, with a reversible seat, compact fold, and not a huge price tag. I’ve looked at the umbrellas with reversible seats or handlebars that flip, but it looks like they all create almost blinders with the fabric on the side of the handlebars and I don’t want that because my boy loves to look out the side. I’ve narrowed it down to the Cybex Iris M and the Babyhome Vida Plus. I know the Vida is super lightweight but has a lower maximum weight (but is my 55lb boy still going to want to be strolled? I’m not sure, he’s been a pint of peanuts since birth so that may be when he’s 6) and I know I can buy the Vida seat to make the limit higher but that means more $$. I don’t need anything that can convert into a travel system because we have one for our maxi cosi already. We just need a stroller that can travel easily and won’t throw our backs out! Thanks so much in advance and sorry if there are two similar posts from me, I had an error on my end!
HI Quinn. I would go with Iris M because it has much better wheels, adjustable leg rest and more compact fold. Vida is a little lighter but because the fold is so bulky it feels much heavier when you lift it up. For me Iris is a much better option. You didn’t say how hold is your son? Do you want another one?
Thank you! I have been leaning more to the Iris so that is helpful. My son is 10 months old and a peanut. By another one, I’m thinking you mean baby and not stroller and yes to another baby, but not until our son is at least 2 or 3 so we have time and all of the convertible strollers seem bigger, bulkier, and more expensive, but I’m open to suggestions.
Thanks again!
Hi Quinn. The convertible strollers are a pain in the behind. They are bulky, and heavy. From convertible category I would probably pick Vista or Britax B-Ready. I think you will really like Iris. It’s very practical and stylish.
Hello
I am trying to choose between the Cybex Iris M-Air and the UPPABaby Cruz. Considering the price difference between the two ($130), is there a large difference in quality? For example, is the Cybex Air less sturdy? It’s between the two because they have a reversible seat and I need one that works well in malls, zoos, and sidewalks. I like the Cybex because of the lower handle bars (I’m only 4’11” and my husband is only 5’10”) and the light weight. I like the UppaBaby because I like the Mesa car seat better than the Cybex car seats and the large canopy. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi Rose. I would go with Cybex because of the easier one-hand fold. When you are running errands last thing you want is to deal with folding a stroller. It also much more compact than Cruz. Also, Cybex has larger wheels :) Now, Cybex car seats are one of the best if not the best and safest. Mesa is pretty good too, but I would buy a car seat depending on what stroller you pick because you will use stroller much longer than the car seat.
Thanks Katrin! I was leaning toward the Cybex but am concerned that it won’t be as sturdy as the UPPABaby because it is so much less expensive. Have you had a chance to try out either stroller? Do they compare in quality?
Hi Katrin!
So I went for the Iris and ordered it from Amazon. It came in and it’s the 2015! I’ve exchanged it already and the same version got sent. The only difference I can see is that the belly strap on the harness system is different from the 2015 to 2016. The 2015 has it sewn to the middle of the seat while the 2016 has it connected in the corners. Is there any other difference that you know of? Is there a particular color that was new for 2016 that I could order to ensure I get the newest model? Thanks again!
Hello, I am trying to decide between the cybex iris m-air and the mamas and papas armadillo flip. I need a stroller that is not too heavy with a reversible seat and flat recline for a newborn. I am also hoping to attach a glider board so that my 3-year-old can hitch a ride if he gets tired. Any advice? I really appreciate any help you can give me.
Just wondering if you know if you can attach a toddler/buggy board to the Cybex Iris? And if so is there a particular brand, style that works best? Thank you. And thank you for the excellent review.
Hi Katrin! Thank you for you review, they are really helpful!
I’m searching for a good lightweight stroller suitable from birth, with the hope it will be my one and only stroller…I’m trying to decide between the Cybex Iris M air and the Bugaboo Bee 3. Which would be your recommendation?
…Or do you have other suggestions? Thanks, Paola
Hi Katrin, are the Cybex Iris compatable with any toddler boards ? Can’t seem to find any info regarding this
Rachel
Hi Katrin,
Great review! Very informative! I saw the Iris M-air in store the other day and I thought it was great. The label says it is suitable for new born, however when I visited the the Cybex website, it stated New Born with carry cot.
I’m not keen to get a carry cot. Do you think the seat from the Iris M-air itself is suitable for new born?
Thanks!
Hi Katrin,
Your site is super helpful–I’m new to this world of baby gear and appreciate your reviews. I’m really liking the Cybex line of strollers. I originally was drawn to the Uppababy line because of all the features but did not like the price tag.
Between the Bailos and the Iris, it looks like the main difference is around the wheels. I live in Minnesota and am wondering if you recommend the larger wheels of the Bailos for winter weather (slush, ice and snow on sidewalks/parking lots)? Or would the Iris M-air suffice? Also, do you feel the fabric is easy to clean?
thanks much!
Hi,
I have owned many many carriages over the years I need one now for my 3 month old- something light but not too flimsy ( i have the yoyo for the future). I need something with a flat recline, small and easy fold, very large hood, reversible seat is nice- but not must. I think i have narrowed it doesn’t to mama and papa urbo 2, cyber iris M air ( nervous art that opening in mesh hood), Inglesina zippy ( seat doesn’t reverse and maybe too similar to yoyo). What do u think or any others to reeccomend?
( is turbo 2 different for 2014, 2015, 2016- i see different years advertised)
Thanks for your help and great site!
Hi Katrin
Im trying to choose a stroller between cybex iris or babyzen yoyo plus. As this is my first time buying a stroller, i myself are very confused of what specs should i be looking to. Cybex iris seemed solid and have better quality but babyzen yoyo is also lightweight travel-friendly stroller as it is easily foldable, small and stylish whilst cybex iris has reversible seat but im afraid its too bulky. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi Lena. You can’t really have everything in one stroller. I would buy two. One full featured for when the child is younger and a lighter one for traveling when the child is older. Iris is one of my favorite strollers and I think it’s great for younger babies.
HI Nicole. For rougher terrain go with all-terrain wheels. It’s nice to have two strollers: one full featured with large wheels for outside and one lighter for going to the mall and traveling. Cybex Bailos is a great choice. I would also get something like Uppababy G-Luxe for the lighter version.
HI Fong. The recline is pretty deep. Almost flat. But I would probably use it with an infant insert to make sure your newborn has as much support as possible.
Hi Katrin,
I would like to know which do you prefer?
– Urbo2
– Bugaboo bee3
– Cybex Iris M- Air
I need a compact, but confortable stroller, cause my child will take a nap there…
Urbo2 is almost perfect, but i think the bump bar is very necessary…
Please helpmeee LOL
HI Helen. From your list I like the look of Urbo2 the best and it’s the best for naps. The only thing is not that great about Urbo2 are small wheels and the fold is not as convinient as on M-Air. BTW Urbo2 comes with bumper bar. Bee3 is my list favorite because of the small wheels and very bulky fold.
Hi Katrin,
I have cybex m-air. Do you maybe now can we buy and put bigger wheels on it? The wheels for balios are bigger. Can we put them?
Thank you so much
Best regards
Danica
Hiya.
Is the max weight limit of 55lbs correct? It advises 17kg on the Cybex UK website? I’m looking to upgrade from a Bee Plus as I’m finding it too flimsy for my 2 yr old. Would you agree this is sturdier?
Many thanks
Amy
Hi Katrin, not sure at the time you did this review if the Cybex Iris already have this feature, but i would like to add that it has adjustable handle bar that can extend longer, great for taller parents; they don’t have to slouch to push the stroller. And I agree, this stroller is one of the best with the functionality, ease of use, style and price… although it’s not really a new model, but i find myself drawn to stroller a lot! So happy to find a fellow fan 🤣
I was wondering the same thing except i was more interested in the M&P Armadillo flip xt. I am expecting baby #2 at the beginning of October and would prefer to purchase one stroller that is lightweight, comfortable for a newborn, but thst i can use for when she’s older. Something that i know will last and not fall apart and that is durable…which is why i’ve narrowed it down to these two choices. Although i was also looking at the Gb evoq travel system…
In addition, it would be useful if i could purchase a glider board for my 3 yr old to add on (which is why i was looking at the Gb evoq).
Appreciate your feedback!
Hi.
I have a Cybex M-air and just wonder if you know if there is a way to take off and clean the seat ?
Thanks :)
