The BOB Motion Stroller is the newest addition to the line of BOB strollers. After focusing on jogging strollers for 15 years, BOB has introduced their 4-wheel lightweight compact stroller that is designed for everyday use like going to the shopping mall, grocery store, or doctor’s appointment.
But, since it has all-terrain wheels and a rugged suspension system, it will handle tough terrain so you can take it to the park, beach, or trails.
It looks like BOB really listened to the customers because this stroller has what other BOB strollers are lacking like a one-hand fold, adjustable handlebar, and infinite seat recline. Also, the Click & Go adapter for B-Safe Infant car seats or any BRITAX infant car seat is INCLUDED. How great is that!
Because of all the great features, Motion is a serious competition for everyday strollers like City Mini GT and Britax B-Agile. It weighs only 23 lb and can hold a child up to 76 lb. You can use it from birth and till college with no problem. :)
OVERALL
I gave it 5 out of 5 stars because I really don’t have anything negative to say. It’s almost perfect. The only thing I would like to see is an adjustable legrest. Also, it would be nice if the cup holder was included.
You can get it for around $300. Keep in mind, that the price does vary depending on the color. You can get the travel system with the Britax B-Safe car seat for around $400.
Features
CANOPY
Like the rest of the BOB strollers, Motion has a full coverage large canopy with a large mesh viewing window at the top. The peekaboo window has a Velcro closure (I wish it was magnetic). I absolutely love this canopy! It is one of the best on the market.
HANDLEBAR
Finally, after millions of complaints from parents, BOB added an adjustable handlebar. It goes from 32″ all the way to 42″ from the ground up to the handle. BTW, this is the biggest complaint for all BOB jogging strollers. None of them have an adjustable handlebar.
SEAT
It has a very roomy supportive padded seat that accommodates children from newborn up to 76 lb! It will last you a long time. It is 14″ wide and 23″ from the back of the seat to the canopy.
This is great because you can use it from birth and up to 76 lb. You can recline the seat with one hand by pulling on the straps in the back of the seat. But you will need both hands to bring the seat back. It has a very upright seat that many parents will love.
There is a large mesh window in the back of the seat that you can uncover after reclining the seat. It is the same type of mesh that you probably saw on the Baby Jogger City Mini model.
It allows for the air to circulate through the mesh on a hot summer day. Great feature! I liked it on City Mini and I am happy BOB added it to Motion stroller. If the weather gets cold, you can cover it up.
There is also a roomy pocket on the back of the seat that you can use for all of your stuff like keys, wallet, and cell phone (and all other crap we carry with us. :))
HARNESS
This harness is padded and adjustable. To unlock it, all you need to do is push the button in the middle and pull the straps out. Very easy.
.
BASKET
The basket underneath the seat is not large but will fit your medium size diaper bag. Because of the arched-up bar, it’s a little challenging to put things into the basket from the back. I found it easier to do it from the sides. If the seat is fully reclined, you can only access it from the sides.
WHEELS
This stroller has 4 semi-slick air-filled tires that provide a smooth ride in tough terrains like grass, mulch, and even gravel. The back wheels are 10″ and the front are 7″. It is very easy to push and navigate.
You can easily take them off if you need to make your stroller more compact. It has swivel front wheels that can be locked in place if you are going through tough terrain.
We all know from the jogging strollers that BOB creates a state-of-the-art suspension system. And this stroller didn’t disappoint.
This stroller has a rugged suspension system that absorbs a lot of the bumps providing superior maneuverability and creating a smooth ride. This stroller can handle ANY terrain.
BRAKE
It has an easy-to-access one-foot brake that is unfortunately not flip-flop friendly.
FOLD
I think that BOB created serious competition for City Mini and Britax B-Agile strollers that also have very easy one-hand folds. This feature is one of the key points for parents who are choosing a stroller.
To fold up the stroller, put back the canopy, push the button on the side, and pull up the handle in the middle of the seat. It is very compact with folding dimensions of 28″L x 21″W x 11″H.
This stroller weighs only 23 lbs because of the lightweight yet durable aluminum frame and small air-filled wheels. Now, for me, lightweight strollers have to weigh under 17 lbs.
Everything above, I don’t really consider lightweight. I guess this is an “all-terrain lightweight” stroller. It does have a great suspension system that strollers under 17 lbs don’t have.
This stroller automatically locks when folded unlike other BOB strollers and it CAN stand on its own folded. To unfold it, unlock the automatic lock and pull up the handlebar until it opens.
TRAVEL SYSTEM
I think it’s great that the car seat adapter is included since you have to buy a kids’ tray and parents’ console separately. You can turn Motion into a travel system if you get BOB B-SAFE Infant Car Seats (great car seat btw) or any BRITAX Infant Car Seat.
You can also use it with the most popular car seats like Chicco Key Fit, Chicco Key Fit 30, Graco Snugride 32 Classic Connect, Graco Snugride 35 Classic Connect, and Peg Perego Primo Viaggio (excluding Primo Viaggio 4-35) with a purchase of an adapter.
Cons
Motion has so many great features, that it is even hard to come up with any cons.
-Leg rest. The leg rest is not adjustable, but it is a very long 11″. Here. I found one negative. LOL.
-No cup holder. It would be nice to have a cup holder included. Many of us survive because of the coffee.

Thank you, I think you’ve confirmed our choice. Being our first stroller, we’re not 100% sure of what we want. I know I want something easy for us to fold and put in the trunk, and big wheels. Very informative and well written review.
As a mom of 2 on a tight budget I appreciate all of you moms out there who do these reviews I reall y need a new stroller for my son and unfotunatley I cant afford the motion right now but hope to get one in the future I have a 2 year old and 9 year old so this is prefect for me!! Is there anyway you can do a bob motion giveaway?
That was the best review! I’m doing some hard reasearch and since the beggining I was looking for a stroller with proper tires, however I was feeling dissapointed that I could only find them on joggers or very high-end brands. The BOB Motion does seem to be all I’ve been looking for!
I just wanted to clarify something. The folded dimensions listed, do they include the tires? (since you mentioned they can be removed to make them more compact)
Hi Ana. The Motion and City Mini GT are both the most affordable all terrain strollers. The folded dimensions do include tires. :)
Between the city mini and the Bob Motion, which would you say is the overall better choice (focus on quality, long lasting and ease of use) when being utilized for everything from jogging to shopping to traveling, etc.
Hi MZ. Both strollers are not for jogging, but you can do some light jogging with them. Both are great stroller so it all depends how you are going to be using them. If you need a lightweight stroller for running mostly errands I would go with City Mini. If you want all-terrain for a lot of walks outside, I would get BOB because it has all-terrain wheels and amazing suspension.
Hi! I was wondering if any of you know if the bob motion is on bearings? does it turns as easily as the peg perego which is on ball bearings…..
i mean as the peg perego vela….?
Hi Katrin! I’ve read all you reviews and i wanted to say thank you for all the effort you put on this website! This is amazing when you’re lost into all the different kinds of stroller that exist… And i would need some advice…. I’ve been looking for a stroller since weeks and i’m still not sure what would fit better for us…… First of all, I live in Canada, so we’re having snow 5-6 months every year, then i would need a stroller that would ride well into snow. Not in a snowstorm, but in a few inches at least. Then, on the other months which isn’t snowing, i would need my stroller to be easy to drive into sand and grass. I’m also doing light jogging and taking walks in the trails. For all those reasons, i thought of the bob motion. Would you think it would be able to do all those things? From what i read on your blog, it’s an all terrain stroller, which is also small enough and easy to drive into the mall center. Plus i think it would fit in my trunk! :) The thing is, in Canada they don’t sell enough of them so they don’t keep it on the floor to try it. I have to order it and pay half of it even if i don’t take it. The selling price in Canada is around 600$…. Thats why i really need advice and your experimented opinion before ordering it…. Can you please help me? It’s going to be my first baby and i feel so lost into stroller shopping!!!! :S
Great review. Love all the photos and the comparisons. My one concern is that you say it’s appropriate for new borns when it clearly is NOT without the car seat or some sort of insert which you completely leave out.
The tires wore out on my daughter’s stroller so I bought new tires as indicated on the side of the tire. They didn’t fit. The inside opening is a non standard size. therefore any tire made to the ISO standard for tires will not fit. The only tire that will is the thin ,non standard overpriced tire from Bob Parts and being in Canada almost impossible to obtain.
