As you probably know, Mamas & Papas is one of my favorite companies. So, I was very excited to see a new model for 2017 called ‘Ocarro’.
While it might be new to the US market, it has been out in the UK since October 2016 so there has been some feedback from parents already. Everybody loves it!
It looks like Mamas & Papas took the best features from the Armadillo Flip XT and Urbo 2 models and put it all into Ocarro creating one of the BEST strollers on today’s market.
This buggy has a reversible seat with a one-hand recline that includes a flat position suitable for a newborn. I absolutely love flat reclines where the child can actually fully stretch and does not have to sleep in a half-sitting position (it’s also great for diaper changes on the fly).
The large three-panel canopy will provide plenty of shade while a zipped-in mesh panel will ensure great air circulation on a hot summer day.
You not going to wake your baby up with the magnetic peekaboo window closure instead of the noisy Velcro. Large baskets can fit a lot of the groceries during your shopping trip. The compact fold will leave plenty of room in your trunk for other things.
But, probably the most important feature of Ocarro is the large all-terrain wheels with all-wheel suspension that create outstanding maneuverability and smoothness when going over terrain. It’s really the wheels that move a stroller from one category to another.
The Ocarro can be purchased by itself, with a matching bassinet, or with a bassinet and an infant car seat.
OVERALL
I gave it 5 out of 5 stars because I absolutely love how stylish and luxurious this buggy is. It has everything on my list including a huge canopy, flat one-hand recline (must have in my opinion), bassinet option, travel system option, large basket, and all-terrain wheels.
This is a huge competition for my beloved Nuna Mixx2 which also has been updated with some new fabrics and leather accents.
You can purchase Ocarro in one of the four beautiful colors for around $695 – $800. It comes with a bumper bar and cup holder. You can also purchase it with a matching bassinet for around $869.
Note: There were NO updates for 2018.

Features
CANOPY
I absolutely love this canopy! It has large three panels (with one zipped in panel) that go down all the way to the bumper bar providing your child with maximum sun protection. The metal accents on the canopy and the foot rest add to the luxurious feel of the stroller.
There is also a zipped up mesh panel in the back that you can expose to provide better air circulation on a hot summer day. The mesh is dark enough to protect your child from the sun.
BTW, this was one of the highly requested features from parents. I don’t think you can see it from the photos I have here, but there is also a toy loop on the inside of the canopy, that you can use to hang a small toy for your baby.
There is a clear peekaboo window with a magnetic closure. No noisy Velcro that is guaranteed to wake up your sleeping child.
HANDLEBAR
The adjustable handle bar is covered in high quality leather. It telescopes out from 38″ up to 41″ from the ground. Great for taller and shorter parents.
There is a convince grip in the middle for one-hand navigation and a short run-away strap for additional safety. Honestly, I’ve never used the run-away strap. It’s probably more need on a jogging stroller.
To avoid tipping the stroller backwards when the seat is fully reclined, hang your diaper bag on the frame using stroller hooks. You can also use it to hang your water bottle, or shopping bags.
SEAT
The seat is 12″ wide with 20″ seat back and a measurement of 24″ from the back of the seat to the top of the canopy. The seat can accommodate a child from birth and up to 50 lbs.
What I really like about this seat is that the back of the seat is made out of hard plastic that will always maintain its shape and provide your child with max support.
The seat has 3-position one-hand lever recline that goes all the way to a flat position suitable for a newborn. You will also need just one hand to bring the seat back up. It has the same recline positions in parent facing mode.
While the seat has a head-hugger to keep a little one snug and safe, I would still get an infant insert if you are planning on putting a newborn baby directly into the seat.
Those parents who want an upright seat will be happy to know that it is very upright in the most upright position. As my daughter got older she always liked to seat up straight pulling herself up using the bumper bar.
HARNESS
It has 5 point padded adjustable harness with a center release buckle that is a little puzzle piece. This is not my favorite buckle, but you can get used to it.
BUMPER BAR
INCLUDED! Super happy about the bumper bar being included. I’ve been complaining now for a while about lack of bumper bar option on the Armadillo line.
Well, I think that Mamas&Papas have listened because I can see bumper bars being included on almost all new models.
FOOTREST
You can easily adjust the leg rest by pulling the lever underneath. It has two positions: horizontal and angled down. Small babies can stretch their little feet and sit comfortably. Also, it creates a great bed-like environment for long naps and quick diaper changes.
BASKET
The basket is not only large, but is accessible from all four sides. The sides are made out of stretchable mesh making it easy to get in. If the foot rest is up, you can get into it from the front. You should be able to fit a large diaper bag with no problems.
Parents with long legs will be happy because the crossbar is located much higher than on most of the strollers creating more leg room.
For even more storage I would recommend getting an universal stroller organizer. That way you can take not only your coffee cup, but also a LOT of stuff including keys, phone, water, wallet, snacks, diapers, toys, and more. The amount of stuff it can fit is unbelievable.
BRAKE
There is a single pedal located on the right rear wheel. It is flip-flop friendly. A light press on the pedal will lock and unlock both rear wheels.
WHEELS
It rolls on four hard rubber wheels with 8″ wheels in the front and 11″ wheels in the back. The front wheels are swivel, but can be locked straight for rougher terrain.
These wheels are designed to handle a lot of different terrain and are great for long walks at the park, or stroll down busy city streets with uneven sideways. There is even a reflective trim on wheels for greater visibility at night.
Your child will experience a smooth ride thanks to the front and back wheels suspension.
FOLD
The fold is super easy but is multiple steps. You could probably do it with just one hand, but it’s more convenient to use both. I like that the seat folds inside protecting the fabric from all the dirt and damage.
Also, you can fold it with the seat attached facing any direction. The folded package is pretty compact for an all-terrain reversible-seat stroller with dimensions of 22.8″W x 29.9″L x 14.6″H.
It has an automatic lock and standing fold. Now, I am not sure how that leather handle bar will handle standing fold and does’t get scratched.
BASSINET OPTION
You can turn your stroller into a stylish pram by getting a matching bassinet. This bassinet is one of my favorite. I really like that it holds its shape without sagging down and wrinkly material like on many other bassinets.
The metal detailing on the sunshade gives it modern and luxurious feel. This bassinet can be used as a stand-alone for an extra sleeping place for your child.
TRAVEL SYSTEM OPTION
You can turn Ocarro into travel system with most popular infant car seats like (you just need to get the right adapter):
- Cybex Aton/Aton2/Aton Q
- Maxi-Cosi Citi/Pebble/Cabriofix/Mico
- Graco Snugride Click Connect
- Chicco KeyFit 30
Cons
-Heavy weight. The weight of almost 30 lbs is the only true downside of the Ocarro model. Of course you can lift the seat and the frame separately every time you load it into the trunk to make it easier on your back. Looking at the specs, I expected the weight to be around 25 lbs.

Hi there. Thanks so much for the new posts. We’ve been waiting on your stroller posts since the baby show in Vegas! :) Thanks for the review but we have one question. Would you prefer this from Nuna Mixx and if so, why? Love your site!
Hi Katrin, love your website!
Any word on the updated 2017 Armadillo Flip XT? Is the only new feature the bumper bar or are there other updates as well?
Hi Ashley. Just the bumper bar and new colors. That’s all.
Hi Katrina. This is a hard one. They have a lot of similar features. I like the fabrics and design of Ocarro more and it has a little more compact fold with the seat folding in half, but it is 5 lbs heavier. On the other hand Mixx has larger basket and weighs less but the colors are not that exciting. Do you care about bassinet option? Mixx doesn’t have bassinet while Ocarro does. If I HAD to choose between the two I would probably pick Mixx because I have a bad back and lifting 30 lbs is a little tough for me. Style wise I like Ocarro more.
Hi Katrin,
I’m a first time mom and comparing strollers I’m between this model (the Ocarro) and the stokke xplory. Of course with both options I would be adding the car seat and the carrycot.
What do you recommend ? And why ?
Thanks !
Walaa
Hi Katrin,
We have recently been looking at a number of travel systems for our first and are narrowing a short list.
What are you thoughts on the M&P Ocarro vs the iCandy Peach 3 or 2016 model.
Many Thanks
Phil
Hi Katrin!
Been following your reviews. I was looking into the Armadillo flip XT and loved what I was seeing as I need a compact stroller with a small fold that is reversible. However I started seeing the news about the recall. If I’m still seeing it online, is that not safe, and would you recommend it or the urbo2 better?
Hi,
We are first time buyers of push chairs. We like the joolz day earth and ocarro.. I just want an outside view as we can’t decide.
Hi Katrin,
I’m trying to choose a stroller but it’s very difficult to make up my mind. I like everything in the M&P Ocarro stroller except the weight which seems too much. The other models I’m thinking of are: M&P Flip XT2, Icandy strawberry 2 and Cybex Balios M. Would appreciate it a lot if you give me your point of view for the listed models.
Thanks a lot!
Tanya
HI,
I am debating between the armadillo flip xt2, ocarro and possibly the nuna mixx2 with a bassinet.
What do you recommend. I live in NY, so I wanted soemthign that can take me through the snow, although its not a ton of snow and its not all the time. Its important for me to have a nice size basket.
I’ve heard about the armadillo xt2 that the seat doesnt really come to a fully seating position and toddlers didnt like it, is the ocarro the same? Whats holding me back from getting the ocarro is the weight, although I dont have a car or have to do steps so maybe its not really an issue.
What do you reccommend?
Good morning, I bought the ocarro for my first baby but I’ve not bought the car seat yet. Do you know if the maxi cosi mico 30 works on it? Thanks
Hi Tanya, I try to choose between Cybex Balios M and Flip XT or XT2, CYbex looks little less quality. I wonder what did you choose? Are you happy with that choice?
